Running became a big part of my life about 10 years ago as a part of a weight loss regimen.  My wife and I had a new baby boy at home and it was time for me start a more healthy and active lifestyle.  I was on the borderline of being put on high blood pressure medication by my doctor and realized that it was time to do something to lower it and keep it stable.  A long-time co-worker and Quality Assurance Manager (Bill Reiff) encouraged me to start running with him.  He and other friends became my mentors and running became a daily enjoyment for me. Most especially when I was able to run with others that enjoyed it as much as I did.  I ran my first Marathon in 2008 and reached the finish line after 4 hours and 10 minutes.  I just ran in the Cox Sports Marathon in Providence RI. I finished in 3 hours and 40 minutes. My goal is to qualify for the Boston Marathon in 2011 by running in the Bay State Marathon in October 2010. In order to do this, my time needs to be 3 hours and 20 minutes.  I enjoy running in a group and Saturday morning runs have become the routine.

Running for me has become such a big part of my life.  It started as a way to lose weight about 17 years ago.  In my effort to lead a more healthy lifestyle, running became a daily part of my life that I have come to enjoy.  Upon reaching my weight loss goal, and realizing how much I love running either on my own or with friends, I found myself drawn to achieving more formalized long distance racing goals.  This has brought me to enter and race numerous marathons and Ironman triathlons.  I have been fortunate enough to qualify and run the Boston Marathon 4 times and have a qualifying time for the 2011 race.  I have run over 15 marathons. In the summer of 2009 I ran in the Mount Washington Road Race with a team that was picked by lottery.  I most enjoy running with friends that enjoy it as much as I do.

I will be running in my 3rd Marathon at the end of the month in Lexington, MA.  My 1st marathon was in Columbus, OH in 2008 and my 2nd was in Indianapolis, IN in 2009.  I don’t compete, I do it more for fun, and my goal is to run a Marathon in every state.  I try to run a marathon at  least 2 times a year.
