Finding Success Through Difficult Times - No Sweat!

Bill Balme

by Bill Balme

2009 was a tough year for business by most every possible standard. Many companies in the US did not come through it and those that did still bear the marks. For sure, those that experienced the huge drops in business through 2009 and managed to come through regardless, in all probability did so by managing their business in unfamiliar and imaginative ways – and if they’re anything like Checon, they’ve retained much of what was learned and are now a much improved and far more robust organization.

With a strong financial base from which to work, Checon continued an aggressive sales and engineering effort during the recessionary time, which has yielded significant fruit: Our business fell by over 50% between November 2008 and January 2009, but a year later, our sales are back to pre-recession numbers, even though our traditional business remains over 20% off. We added 20% new business that is already in production and have significantly more that will come on stream in 2010 as customer testing
