Checon brought me on as a Process Engineer in 2005 as part of its plan to streamline its material and contact product manufacturing operations as well as to improve its process documentation. From there, it was just a matter of time before I got involved in company wide systems management that included sales and customer service activities.Today technical sales and customer service are my new focus. As Checon’s Inside Sales Manager, I have had the opportunity to become involved in many facets of the company sales from quotation development to customer service and account management,
I think one of the best strengths that I bring to the table in this position is my analytical and problem solving mindset. I am able to assist customers in defining their requirements to avoid potential problems down the line. Our customers know they can count on me to work on their behalf in the best way possible – before an issue arises! |

Sales/Application Engineer:Steve Carter |
I was drawn to Checon six years ago by all the silver they use because, in my prior training I dealt with commodities — hedging silver. One thing lead to the next and once my interest was piqued on the engineering side, I moved into the position of sales. For those of you who know me, I like to develop relationships built on trust and my ability to bring value added service. Understanding your needs and concerns in business as well as your struggles with life’s challenges (getting kids through college, taking care of aging parents and maintaining healthy relationships with our spouses) outside our jobs, builds the bond between us — like family members.I’ve been fortunate to have lived by the ocean most of my life. Boating, tennis, nearby family and the love of travel, are great excuses to get out.Visit – and I’ll show you around southern New England. |

Major Accounts Executive Manager:Paul Thomsen |
I joined Checon in 1994 as a detail draftsman and quickly began learning the concepts and characteristics of the unique world of contact manufacturing. After being mentored for 5 years under the watchful eye of a handful of industry giants, I moved into a Sales role and have been working in that capacity for the last 10 years. My greatest sense of accomplishment comes from working with a customer to find a solution to their problem thereby gaining their confidence in the process. I especially enjoy taking an “old school” approach to building relationships with our customers through personal involvement and face to face meetings. |

Metallurgist:Gary Haupt |
I have held various product and process development positions throughout my career as a Metallurgist – from developing materials for beer cans and brass screws to semiconductors and aerospace components. Have to admit however, that the metallurgy at Checon is more fascinating than anything else I have ever worked with! Many of Checon’s products are complex materials made of metals and ceramics — or even created as ceramics from metal alloys. The application of the materials is interesting too — not many materials have such a wide range of duties to perform — from surviving the destructive powers of an arc — (even quenching it)— to being highly conductive and tarnish resistant to boot.As a scientist, it doesn’t get much better than this. It’s very rewarding to be able to contribute my knowledge and experience from related and unrelated fields towards the development of new materials at Checon and bringing those materials swiftly into production. |

Customer Service:Theresa Boivin |
I joined Checon in January of 2007 as a Customer Service Representative – a job that I truly love. Dealing with customers from all over the world and being able to help them is very satisfying. The relationships that I have formed with my customers often feel like close friendships. I feel a sense of accomplishment ensuring that their needs are met, and that their dealings with Checon are positive experiences. On a dare, I succeeded in gaining my motorcycle license – and I love it! On beautiful summer days you’ll find me riding my GSXR through town. Sometimes a whole group from Checon will go out for a ride together.
Once summer is over and fall has set in, my interests turn to the New England Patriots – I am a huge fan and past season ticket holder for many years. There’s no place I would rather be on a Sunday afternoon than watching the Patriots from the minute they hit the gridiron – until the 4th quarter is over as they win again! I live and breathe Football. |

Customer Service:Pam Brown |
I’ve always been involved in the metals industry from jewelry to precious metals manufacturing in a very wide range of different responsibilities. I joined Checon in 2003 as a Customer Service Representative after Checon came very highly recommended as a wonderful company to work for from a previous Checon manager I knew. He was right! I enjoy my work, interacting with my customers and working to meet their needs and goals. It’s rewarding at the end of the day to have helped make a customers needs a reality. I’m an avid treasure-hunter…always looking for antiques and previously loved items to recondition and present to my customers in my “other job” in a multi-dealer shop. I’ve always had a desire to create and built my own website to showcase my work.
My other passion is NASCAR…just love everything about it – the speed, the noise – the whole atmosphere is incredible. Some people don’t get it – why you’d sit and watch cars chase each other around an oval…but you either love it or you don’t! I do. |
